After weeks of festive feasting, cyclists the world over will be itching to get back on their bikes and work off the few extra pounds gained around the Christmas break.
Whether it’s your New Year’s resolution to get out in that fresh air on your bike a bit more or you’re eager to pick up the pace with your cycling, there’ll be plenty of new gear and gadgets to see you at your best performance in 2015.
Here’s our four favourite pieces of cycling gear that we’re looking forward to in the next 12 months:
1. CamelBak Podium Ice Bottle
This is a great new product ready for the summer months as the Podium Ice claims to keep your drink cold four times longer than a standard bottle. For those warm summer rides, an icy drink can help to keep your temperature down and therefore help you maintain a high output.
2. Strava’s New 2015 Range
Online ride logging service, Strava, has launched a new branded kit in the company’s distinctive orange colour, which includes men’s and women’s jerseys, bib shorts, gilets, arm warmers and socks. Additionally, the clothing is made by Swiss company Cuore, who also make IAM Cycling’s team kit.
Interestingly for U.K. based fans of Strava, the company are planning to internationalise the store (which is currently US based) to allow for quicker and more straightforward shipping to the U.K.
3. Fabric ALM Saddle
The brains behind UK urban and utility brand, Charge bikes (http://www.chargebikes.com/) , have created the new accessories brand, Fabric.
Starting with saddles, we’re particularly excited about the new ALM Saddle which is hailed as “A World First in Saddle Design”. This innovative new ultra-lightweight saddle offers greater flexibility than before and a design which dampens vibration across the whole unique form.
4. New Castelli Clothing for 2015
For 2015, Castelli have made a few tweaks to their high-end Gabba garments. Our particular favourite is the Castelli Gabba 2 Convertible jacket. Unpredictable weather shouldn’t impact on your ride and Castelli have recognised this with a piece that easily coverts from a long-sleeve to a short-sleeve jersey. What’s more, that hyper-lightweight mesh means the clothing copes on those hot days, but teamed with a long thermal jersey will keep you comfortable on those harsh winter rides.
