Chrissie Wellington, a triathlete who won her fourth title in 2011 has reached out to Twitter after the bike that she rode (and won on) in the Ironman World Championship was stolen.

Her original tweet, which was re-tweeted over 1700 times was followed up by ‘just seen the cc tv. Can't believe the thief had the audacity to steal and then ride away on MY bike’.

She has also posted CCTV footage of the theft on YouTube.

Her valuable bike, a white Cannondale Slice, which is worth thousands, was being kept cousin's office in Chessington when it was stolen between Sunday night and Monday morning.

The Metropolitan Police said: "Kingston burglary squad are investigating a break-in at office premises in Oakcroft Road, Chessington, that occurred around 11:15 BST on Sunday.

"An unknown male suspect forced entry to the building and then an internal office to steal a ladies' racing bike and around £70 in cash."
