Who Is He: RHODES (David Rhodes)
Where Is He From: Hitchin, Hertfordshire
In a Nutshell: Although RHODES only recorded his first song 6 months ago - he only realised he could sing in 2012 - he has managed to captivate audiences the world over, with fans including the likes of Radio 1 DJ’s Zane Lowe and Fearne Cotton.
His mysterious demeanour, haunting vocals and exquisite electric guitar are instantly captivating, and his music, which builds slowly from simple acoustic riffs into soaring ballads, encompasses all of the senses. He has already supported the likes of Rufus Wainwright, Nick Mulvey and London Grammar, and it would appear he is only just getting started.
RHODES is definitely one to watch.
As a side note, be sure to check out his latest track ‘Breathe’, it is simply epic.
What The Critics Think: Paul Lester, of The Guardian writes, ‘We're dying to call him a male Emeli or Adele but we're worried you might laugh’. So it would appear that RHODES is set to follow in some pretty big footsteps. And Harpers Bazaar calls him a ‘gilded songwriter’, with ‘unwavering and distinct vocals, which glide above and below his falsetto’. Pretty big praise indeed.
Where You Can Hear Him: Touring throughout the UK in the later part of 2014, RHODES can be found playing a host of intimate gigs and festivals in the coming months. More information can be found here.
